Lina Gálvez Muñoz

Born in Seville in 1969, Lina Gálvez Muñoz holds has a BA in History from the University of Lyon and the University of Seville. She did her PhD studies at the London School of Economics and European University Institute in Florence where she was a full-time research and where she vivas her doctoral thesis in 1998.

That same year she joined the Department of Economics, University of Reading. In 2001, after a brief period at the University of Seville, she joined the Department of Economic History at the Universidad Carlos III. In 2004, she returned to Seville to join the University Pablo de Olavide, Department of Economics, Quantitative Methods and Economic History, where she is Professor of History and Economic Institutions. At this same university she is Vice Chancellor of Graduate Studies since July 2007.

Lina Gálvez is member of the Consejo de la Asociación Española de Historia Económica and of the Consejo Estadístico de Andalucía, recently she has been appointed member of the Real Academia de las Nobles Artes de Antequera.

In addition to her academic work, Lina Gálvez has a significant presence in the media as a weekly columnist of the Correo de Andalucía and Tertullian program on La Hora de Andalucia and La Mirilla, both of Canal Sur Radio. It also works with different types of organizations and institutions, she is a member of the Scientific Council of ATTAC, lecturing that as far as possible to help the public awareness of the need to empower themselves to achieve a more just and equal world where disappears all forms of discrimination, but especially those suffered by women for the simple fact of being.
